Case study

Week 19: Ground level framing

At last, the house is starting to take shape. The base level now firmly links the lower level to the ground, while the articulated upper levels and light-weight construction begins.

Comments from our client: "It's been a slow process through all the detailing which has been frustrating - we're living in a shoebox at the moment - but when you look at the end product you appreciate why it took so long."

Project: New House, Western Suburbs

Size: Basement Level - 102m2. Water tank area, garage, lobby, provisional for future rumpus room.

Ground Floor Level - 252m2. Meals, family, kitchen, dining and study spaces, entry and deck.
Upper Level - 147m2. Bedrooms.

Construction: Split face block base, upper two stories in timber framing with brick and fibre cement cladding, metal roof.

Construction timing: Approximately 9 months
